Dry Deck
"Dry Deck" fountain systems incorporate an "on grade", continuous hardscape surface treatment constructed of poured concrete, concrete, brick or terrazzo pavers, mosaic tiles, granite pavers, non-ferrous grate material, or resilient "safety deck" material, supported on a below deck stanchion system or combined with a remote storage/surge tank.

Poured Concrete
Water returns to the containment vessel below the surface through gaps or seams between the deck pavers, a central or perimeter water return system, or through specially formulated porous resilient deck material.

In-pool equipment is hidden from view below the deck with nozzles and light fixtures installed flush to the hardscape surface, minimizing trip/slip hazards, and allowing the pedestrian to enter the feature space to interact with the fountain system. Pumping and filtration system equipment is typically located in a remote, below grade mechanical enclosure.

An additional benefit from the flush "dry deck" fountain approach is to free the space for other uses when the fountain system is not operational.
