Roman Fountains is proud to have partnered with the National Park Service on the restoration and ongoing maintenance of several historic fountains throughout Washington, D.C., helping preserve these iconic landmarks as the nation commemorates America’s 250th anniversary. This collaborative restoration effort included the rehabilitation of aging fountain infrastructure, mechanical systems, and water features to return these treasured public spaces to full operation while maintaining their historic character.
Among the most notable projects was the restoration of the historic Columbus Circle Fountain at Union Station. Originally dedicated in 1912 as part of the national celebration commemorating the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s voyage, the fountain has welcomed visitors to the nation’s capital for more than a century. For the first time since 2007, water is once again flowing through this iconic landmark following an extensive restoration effort that returned the fountain to its original beauty and functionality.
